Understanding the Great Divide #1

us-political-divide-4232701With the Kavanaugh supreme court hearings I believe we have reached a new low point in American politics. It was painful to watch no matter what side of the aisle you sit on. Politics is not supposed to be a soap opera.  Perhaps it’s time to consider taking the TV cameras out.  Without the cameras, Dr. Ford could have remained anonymous like she wanted to, and Diane Feinstein would have no reason to hold her case until the last minute for political purposes. Without the cameras Cory Booker would have to run for president on his own time. Without the cameras Senators would not spend 19 of their 20 minutes show-boating and then waste 1 minute on a self serving irrelevant question.  The whole process could be done in a day instead of 2 weeks.

As it was, the soap opera created chaos everywhere.  Even those who try to ignore politics could not escape it. It was all over TV, social media, in the work place and at home. I believe this is a source of great frustration for the majority of Americans.  We want and expect our leaders to conduct their business in a civil manner. Frankly, we may have just witnessed the death of civility in DC. That leads me to a question: If civility is dead who killed it?  Does it matter?  Our citizens have never been more divided than they are right now, so if I went out to the street and asked 10 people who they thought was dividing the country what would they say?  I don’t think the average voter knows why we are being divided or who is causing it. My guess is 7 of the 10 would say Donald Trump.  If you are one of the seven then let me ask you to consider another possibility, because I know the answer and it is not President Trump.

Before we get to the great divider, lets go over some things that we all used to agree on. I can think of five:

1– American Sovereignty (strong borders, defense, fair trade)

2–God (Biblical values, religious liberty)

3–The Constitution

4–Definition of Marriage

5– Patriotism (Doing what is best for America).

It wasn’t very long ago that virtually everyone agreed on these 5 things, and there was unity in that, and a sense of common purpose that brought all of us together. Sadly, today that is not the case.

The Republican party still supports and defends all of these 5 things, but unfortunately the democrat party no longer supports and defends any of them.  So there is your answer.  The great divider is the democrat party. Now some of my democrat friends will say that they do believe in these things.  Maybe you do, but your political party doesn’t! Let me explain how. Democrats believe in open borders, cutting defense, they took God completely out of their party platform, and marriage is whatever anyone wants it to be. Obama complained for 8 years about the constraining effects of the Constitution, and went around it every chance he could. What ever you think of Trump, you can’t deny that he always does what is best for America. Clinton and Obama can’t say that.  The reason Trump scrapped the Iran deal, Paris deal, and NAFTA is that none of them were in our best interest.

The reason that passion runs so high for conservatives like myself is that America as founded cannot survive leadership that turns it’s back on these things.  And let me mention one more.  What ever happened to the ‘peaceful transfer of power’? What message are we sending to the world when one party can’t except the results of a duly elected president 2 years later?!?

Finally, I want to talk about how and why the democrats make such an effort to divide.  And yes it is on purpose. They have been doing it for years now in spite of the fact that it is not in the best interest of their own voters and is a serious threat to our Republic. Why they do it is because it is the only way to accomplish their goals.  The current goals being to regain power, establish a growing number of low information democrat voters that are dependent on Government, to destroy the bond between Trump and his supporters, and ultimately to impeach Trump.

How they do it is a little more complicated.  They accomplish this through 3 recent developments in American politics; all created and perfected by liberals and the media to cause chaos and division. That’s where we go in part 2.
